[KN]Job satisfaction is about how happy and fulfilled an employee feels in their job whereas job security is about how safe an employee feels about keeping their job.
[APP]For example, in a UK retail store like Tesco, an employee may feel job security because the company is large and financially stable, so they believe they are unlikely to be made redundant.
However, the same employee might not have job satisfaction if the work is repetitive, they don’t get recognition, or they have poor relationships with managers.
[AN]A business might offer high job security but still have employees who are not satisfied, which could reduce motivation and overall performance which can hence damage the businesses reputation.
[AN+]Overtime, low job security can create anxiety among employees. If workers constantly fear losing their jobs, they may become distracted, less committed, and more likely to look for work elsewhere. This increases labour turnover, which raises recruitment and training costs for the business

[KN] The key difference is that job satisfaction is an intrinsic motivator that comes from enjoying the job itself, while job security is an extrinsic motivator that comes from feeling safe from losing the job or being made redundant.
[APP] For example, an employee may feel satisfied because they enjoy helping customers, whereas another may stay motivated mainly because their company offers long-term contracts.
[AN] This difference affects employee performance, intrinsic satisfaction usually leads to higher creativity and voluntary effort, while extrinsic security mainly reduces stress and helps retain staff.
[AN+] A business must therefore use different strategies for each motivator, such as making work meaningful for satisfaction and offering stable contracts for security, to fully motivate its workforce.

[KN] Job satisfaction relates to higher-order needs such as esteem and self-actualisation, whereas job security satisfies lower-order safety needs according to Maslow’s hierarchy.
[APP] For example, a designer achieving creative freedom is fulfilling higher-order needs, while a factory worker valuing stable employment is fulfilling safety needs.
[AN] Because they belong to different levels of Maslow’s hierarchy satisfaction only becomes important once security is already met which means businesses must ensure safety needs first to unlock higher motivation.
[AN+] This difference means businesses must manage each need separately ensuring security first, then offering opportunities for achievement.

[KN]: Job satisfaction is about how happy or motivated an employee feels at work (intrinsic motivator) while job security only gives you the assurance that the employee will have the job even if they aren't motivated (extrinsic motivator).
[APP]: For example, a teacher may feel proud when students respond well in lessons and their work is appreciated (job satisfaction) however, the same teacher may have a permanent contract which guarantees they will not lose their job and have to continue working even if they feel demotivated and burdened.
[AN]: Thus, this shows that job satisfaction reduces absenteeism and labour turnover helping school maintain a stable workforce however, job security may lead to demotivation at some point which would decrease the efficiency of work.
[AN+]: Furthermore, this would lead to worsened brand image and failure of business.

[KN]: Another difference is that job satisfaction encourages proactive behaviour and extra effort while job security mainly ensures attendance and staying of employee for a long period but doesn't lead to extra effort.
[APP]: For example, a designer may voluntarily improve designs (job satisfaction) while job security ensures they continue coming to work even if uninspired.
[AN]: Thus, when employees are motivated by job satisfaction they are likely to be more inovative and this can give business a competitive advantage and better customer services.
[AN+]: Furthermore, this can lead to improved brand image or reputation of business leading to long term sucess of business.

1.KN: Job satisfaction is an intrinsic motivator from enjoying and feeling positive about the work, while job security is an extrinsic motivator from knowing the job is safe from redundancy.
APP: For example, an employee may feel satisfaction from using their skills creatively, while security comes from a long-term contract.
AN: This shows they motivate in different ways—satisfaction improves emotional engagement, security reduces fear of job loss.
AN+: As a result, job satisfaction leads to higher commitment, whereas job security mainly reduces stress and instabiliy. 2. KN: Job satisfaction relates to higher-order needs like esteem and self-actualisation, while job security relates to lower-order safety needs in Maslow’s hierarchy.
APP: For example, recognition for good work increases satisfaction, whereas guaranteed income and stable employment provide security.
AN: This highlights that satisfaction comes after basic safety needs are met.
AN+: Therefore, job security must be ensured first before employees can be motivated by higher-level job satisfaction.
