[KN] In times of recession /COVID, the employee who was targeting self-esteem may now start focusing more on job safety rather than socializing /self-actualization.
[AN] Since, there won't be alternate jobs available in the market, the employee would be pushed to develop strong relations with the employer /manager.
[AN+] The employer/manager may give some challenging tasks to the employee, if processed accurately will increase the chances of promotions in the future.

[KN] Reversion may occur. [AN] This means that an individual may move to a lower level of hierarchy due to less satisfaction at one level, e.g: less job security may move worker satisfaction to physical needs only in the hierarchy. [AN+] As a result, the productivity of the worker may decline along with efficiency of business if the worker feels distressed, and is not working at full potential as he may no longer feel encouraged to work hard.

KN: If a company is effected by external elements like mergers or takeovers business will go towards rationalization
AN: In rationaization business always fires one employee in this case those employees aiming for self esteem will now go for the safety needs
