19 Explain one reason why specialisation might lead to lower quality products in a toy factory. [3]
Sample Response - 3 Marker
[KN] As every worker perform a single task repeatedly making him bored and careless.
[APP] For e.g. in toy factory a person repeatedly fitting the toys would increase the chances of mistakes while fixing it.
[AN] Increased mistakes means more burden on the supervisors (1) who are checking the quality of products, thus increasing the cost of production due to rejection of toys (2). Also, if these toys reach the customer without being checked, would dissatisfy them as well.(3)

[KN]Workers repeat the same task multiple times all day which makes them become bored or careless.
[APP] For instance, if one worker only assembles toy parts all day, they may stop paying attention and make mistakes.
[AN]This can cause more defects in final product which then increase waste and ultimately damage the factory’s reputation with customers hence sales falls.

Knowledge: Specialization is when workers focus on one task in the production process.
Application: In a toy factory, workers might repeat the same small task every day, like attaching parts.
Analysis: This can make them bored and less motivated, leading to mistakes, reduced care in their work, and ultimately lower quality toys being produced.

> KN is the Definition but not the reason.
> bored and less motivated can be the KN

[KN] Specialization means workers focus on one specific task, but this can sometimes reduce the overall quality of products.
[APP] For example, in a toy factory, one worker might only attach wheels while another only paints the toys.
[AN] This can lower quality because workers may become bored and less careful when repeating the same job over and over. As a result, mistakes are more likely to happen, and since no one is overseeing the whole process, small defects may go unnoticed. Over time, this can harm the reputation of the business if customers receive faulty toys.

(KN)specialization could cause boredom
(APP)for example if in a toy factory a person assembles a toy car everyday they would become bored and cause carless mistakes,
(AN)leading to the business having more faulty goods then perfect ones ,eventually lowering output and decreasing the revenue, making the business take a bad financial hit (it would impact the cash flows negatively)
Examiner Feedback:
Good KN, Good AN
Rather saying "Bad financial hit", use the business terminologies.

[KN] Because the workers do the same task all day long so they could become bored of it or careless.
[APP] For example in a toy car factory a person is responsible for attaching parts and he may do some mistakes because of the careless attitude .
[AN] Hence these mistakes will be under looked in the factory and when it reaches to the public it will cause some problems which will destroy the factories image and will reduce sales.

(KN)Workers will get bored of producing the same product over and over again.
(APP)For instance, if in a toy factory that specialized in RC cars workers assemble RC cars for hours everyday they will eventually experience burnout.
(AN)This in turn will lead to demotivation, so workers will make more mistakes when assembling cars, thus poorer quality, leading to worsened brand image of the business.

[KN] Workers would become bored by doing the same task many times.
[APP] This would reduce motivation, making workers less careful and more likely to make mistakes. Repetitive work may also lead to carelessness as workers would rush their tasks leading to errors.
[AN] This leads to a fall in the quality of the products, leading to an increase in returns as unsatisfied customers would demand their money back, decreasing the brand image of the business.
