KN: Self-awareness means a manager understands their own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and how their behaviour affects others.
APP: For example, a manager at Apple who realises they get stressed during tight deadlines might take a short break before speaking to their team to avoid sounding harsh.
AN: This helps the manager control their reactions and communicate more calmly, which improves teamwork and reduces misunderstandings.
AN+: Over time, self-awareness leads to better decision-making because the manager can recognise emotional triggers and avoid letting stress or anger affect important choices.
KN: Empathy is the ability to understand and consider the feelings and perspectives of other people.
APP: For example, a manager at Nike may notice that staff are tired during a busy product launch and adjust their workload or offer support.
AN: This builds trust because employees feel valued and understood, which encourages them to stay motivated and committed to their tasks.
AN+: In the long run, empathy improves employee morale, reduces staff turnover, and creates a more positive work culture where people communicate openly.

kn]Social skills refer to a manager's proficiency in managing relationships and building networks; it is the ability to find common ground and build rapport with stakeholders.
app]For instance, a Sales Director uses persuasion and negotiation skills to resolve a conflict between two team members who are arguing over a client account.
an]Good social skills allow the leader to defuse tension and guide the team toward a cooperative solution rather than letting the conflict escalate.
an+]This creates a harmonious working culture where teamwork is effective leading to faster decision-making and better collaboration on projects which results in the business meeting its targets efficiently and retaining talented staff who enjoy the work environment
kn]Self-awareness is the ability of a manager to recognize and understand their own moods, emotions, and drives, as well as their effect on others in the workplace.
app]For example, a factory manager in a stressful production environment realizes they are feeling angry because of a machine breakdown and chooses to take a break before speaking to the staff.
an]By recognizing their own emotional state, the manager avoids taking out their frustration on the employees, preventing an unprofessional outburst.
an+]This ensures that the manager maintains a professional relationship with subordinates which prevents the staff from feeling demotivated or fearful of the leadership ultimately maintaining high labor productivity and reducing the risk of industrial disputes or strikes.

KN1: One of the emotional intelligence competencies of Goleman is social awareness which refers to the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.
APP: For example, a manager of a clothing factory should be able to identify what the employees are feeling and what are they working for.
AN: Due to this, they will be able to identify their needs stated by Maslow and then use them to motivate the workers, which will improve their performance and the quality of the clothes being manufactured leading towards achievement of customer satisfaction.
AN+: This will increase the business's sales, revenue and profit, which will increase chances of growth and improve brand image.
KN2: The second emotional intelligence competency is self management which means that the manager/owner should be able to control their disruptive emotions and impulses, stay calm under pressure and stay positive.
APP: For example, if a pandemic like the COVID-19 hits or if the owner/manager have probles going on in their personel lives then in these situations they should be able to think coolly of a solution without panicking
AN: Due to this they will be able to make better decisions about how to respond to the dynamic business environment, which will help them stay efficient and competitive, maintaining their sales and customer base.
AN+: Due to this they will be able to maintain brand image and maybe even explore new opportunities like going online in case of a pandemic, further increasing customer base and growth opportunities.
