06 Explain how providing good social facilities at work could improve motivation. [8]

[KN] One way is by helping to satisfy the social needs (level 3 of Maslow), need for friendship & team work

[KN] Another way is by improving communication using clear levels of hierarchy & breaking down barriers.

(KN) Providing good social facilities at work improves employee well being
(APP) For example, if the employees of a textile company are provided with good social services, it would mean that employees would get a chance to relax and reduce stress during breaks, which improves their overall mental and physical health.
(AN) This would mean that there would be a far less rate of absenteeism, leading to increased productivity and efficiency within the business, meaning more customers' demands would be satisfied, leading to an increased number of satisfied and loyal customers.
(AN+) Seeing how their work is leading to positive results, employees would become a lot more motivated, aiming to work harder and get recognized, gradually moving up Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
(KN) Providing good social facilities at work also encourages teamwork and builds better relationships.
(APP) For example, if the employees of the same textile business are provided with a place to interact informally such as a lounge or a cafeteria, it would help them to interact with fellow employees and build friendships.
(AN) When these friends are assigned a common group task later on, there would be a noticeable improvement in the teamwork. Furthermore, stronger social bonds lead to higher morale, which makes employees more committed to the organization.

APP: A mew employee at a food manufacturing company may adopt quickly if they are able to talk to people there.
AN: Due to this they may work harder to be recognized and they will have sense of responsibility. This will help them become efficient and improve their overall performance. This increases their chances of promotion.
AN+: Due to this, their purchasing power will increase and they will be able to improve their living standards.
KN2: These social facilities also help provide a clear path/medium of communication within the organization.
APP: For instance, if that new recruit can communicate their problems directly with the manger and can get direct orders from them then their overall performance and output quality will improve.
AN: Due to this they will become loyal to the company/plant. Due to this repeated performance they will become an expert at their job, which enables them to charge higher salaries/wages.
AN+: The company may also grant them other (fringe) benefits like free medical or a membership in club etc, which helps them to maintain work-life balance.

APP: for example, a company providing social benefits to it's employees allows the employees to develop a sense of belongingness and are more relaxed and ready to perform any task given to them.
AN: this allows the company to increase productiveness of the company and allows it to compete in overall markets on the basis of their better quality and productiveness. Moreover a company providing social facilities allows the employees to have a piece of mind which reduces the absentee rate of the employee.
AN+: A company providing social facilities allows it's employees to be recognized and so increases their living standards in the long term.

[KN] By giving the employees break rooms and canteen so that the employee can relax and build friendship.
[APP] For example if a factory provides a comfy break room or free tea the workers would return motivated.
[AN] Hence this would increase productivity. The employees will focus mainly on their tasks.it may also increase sales so increasing profit generation.
[AN+] Also it would create loyalty with customers

[KN] It can also improve communication between the employees and the owner.
[APP] For example during the employee's brake time he can eat with the owner and do some discussions which may improve the communication between the two.
[AN] This may lead to good relation between the employees and the owner; it may also lead to job security and may improve the brands image.
