Re: 11 Discuss the view that a successful business needs both effective managers and effective leader [12]
[KN] clear direction and goal alignment can be due to effective managers.
[APP] for instance a manager of a retail store keeps their employees updated and keeping a check on them would help give the employees a right direction for their work.
[AN] thus this would lead to effective work and even would make it easy for employees to work without the problem of confusion to what to do leading to work completing in time without errors meaning an increase in the quality as well.
[KN] effective leader would increase employees morale.
[APP] for instance a small marketing firm if the leader would recognize or praise the employees on small achievements the employees would get motivated and would have an increased morale.
[AN] due to an supportive leader the employees get more committed to their work as well as increased morale reduces labour turnover and stress which means they would stay longer and will put greater effort increasing the productivity of the business.
[EVAL] A combination of an effective manager who gives clear direction and an effective leader who boosts morale can improve teamwork and overall performance however this impact may be limited for employees still lack proper training and resources business like retail or marketing this blend of management and leadership can raise productivity but lasting benefits demand on whether the business also maintains fair workloads (Hygiene as per Herzberg) and support of staff.

Re: 11 Discuss the view that a successful business needs both effective managers and effective leader [12]
Management is the ability to plan, organise, coordinate and control business activities, while leadership is the ability to motivate, guide and inspire people toward the organisation’s goals.
These are not two separate roles they are two qualities that the same person should have to run a business successfully.
KN: Managerial qualities include planning, organising and controlling so resources and tasks are completed efficiently .
APP: In a hospital, a manager must plan staff rotas, organise medical supplies and control budgets so that wards have enough nurses, medicine and equipment.
AN: Good management makes sure the hospital runs smoothly every day — ambulances arrive, operations are scheduled, and supplies do not run out. Without this, care becomes disorganised and mistakes increase.
kN: Leadership qualities include motivating staff, building trust and encouraging teamwork so employees give their best effort .
APP: In the same hospital, a manager with strong leadership will encourage doctors and nurses during long shifts, support training, and create a calm, confident team when emergencies happen.
AN: This motivation improves staff commitment and morale, so nurses stay focused, suggest improvements, and work well together under pressure.
L1
A successful hospital needs a person who is both a good manager and a good leader.
L2
When one person has both qualities they can plan and organise care (manager role) and also motivate and support staff (leader role). This means operations run smoothly and staff stay committed. For example, well-organised rotas (management) plus clear encouragement during emergencies (leadership) lead to faster patient treatment, fewer errors, and better staff retention.
L3 —
If the person has management but not leadership, the hospital may be organised but staff morale will fall. Nurses may follow procedures but feel undervalued, leading to higher absenteeism and less willingness to help in crises.
If the person has leadership but not management, staff may feel motivated but the hospital could suffer from poor planning shortages of supplies, missed appointments, and chaotic shift cover.
Overall, in a healthcare context both qualities are vital: management provides stability and safety; leadership provides motivation and adaptability. Lacking either risks lower quality care and weaker long-term performance.
