Training development improves the skills and knowledge for an employee, directly improving there ability to work for example a software company training there staff on the new programming language or tool . This allows them to work on more efficiently and produce high qualty code with less to no error, which would increase the productivity and lead to high profits, As a result company can complete the projects on time satisfing the customers with less supervision allowing the manager to focus on other task rather then constantly correcting the employees, this also provides a competitive edge to the company
however there are other ways like motivating the employees through reward or recognition for example a software companies skilled employees may be demotivated because the don't feel valued and have gotten no recognition for there hardwork, leading to stress which would cause them to make mistakes and miss deadlines or leave the company despite having necassary skills . therefore motivation methds like flexible working hours, bonues and paid leaves would boost an employees motivation causing them to work more effeciently
Hence training and development is important but has limited impact, and other options cannot be ignored as an employee also want to feel valued and have a positive working environment .In a softeware company training ensures the programmer have the right skills but the effectiveness will only be reached when the business blends the motivation factor with the financial factor

[Def]

Training and development is when a business teaches employees new skills or improves existing ones to help them do their jobs better and grow professionally.

Point in Favor (Yes, it is the best way)

[KN]
Training improves employee skills, knowledge, and confidence, which directly increases effectiveness.

[APP]
For example, at IKEA, staff are trained on customer service, product knowledge, and store systems, so they can help customers efficiently and handle queries correctly.

[AN]
Firstly, well trained employees work faster and make fewer mistakes.
Secondly, they provide better service, which improves customer satisfaction and encourages repeat business.
Thirdly, training boosts motivation and confidence, so employees take more initiative and responsibility.

Point Against (No, there are other ways to improve performance)

[KN]
Other factors such as motivation, work environment, and effective HR policies also improve employee effectiveness.

[APP]
For example, at IKEA, providing staff with flexible working hours, incentives, and recognition schemes can increase effort and productivity, even without extra training.

[AN]
Firstly, motivated employees work harder and are more committed.
Secondly, a positive work environment reduces absenteeism and staff turnover.
Thirdly, clear goals and performance management encourage employees to focus on key tasks and improve output.

Evaluation

[L1] Judgement
While training and development is very important, it is not the only way to improve employee effectiveness.

[L2] Develop Judgement
Other strategies, such as incentives, strong leadership, and a good working environment, can complement training to make employees more effective.

[L3] Development in Context
In a retail business like IKEA, investing in training is highly effective because staff need product knowledge and customer service skills. However, combining training with motivation schemes, flexible schedules, and recognition ensures maximum employee performance and satisfaction.

[Def] training is when employees learn the skills and knowledge needed for their current job.
[KN] training and development help employees perform tasks more accurately and confidently.
[APP] eg, a bakery may train staff in baking and customer service skills, such as decorating cakes and serving customers.
[AN] thus this can improve effectiveness because employees make fewer mistakes when baking or serving customers hence this can reduce waste and customer complaints staff work faster and more confidently they learn to use new equipment or follow new recipes. overall this can increase productivity.
Moreover, trained staff deliver better quality products and service thus helping the bakery maintain customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.

[KN] although training is helpful, it also has some drawbacks and may not always lead to the biggest improvement in performance.
[APP] eg, a bakery may improve performance by offering bonuses for meeting sales targets, such as rewards for selling a certain number of cakes or pastries.
[AN] training may not be the best way because it can be very expensive, especially for bakeries with many staff hence this can reduce profits without guaranteeing better results. Employees may forget skills if they are not used regularly.hence this can make the training less effective over time. Training sessions take staff away from their duties, causing delays in baking or serving customers. moreover the bakery might gain better results from cheaper methods like motivation better supervisio or improved working conditions.

although training can improve skills it is not the only way to boost bakery performance employees also need motivation and a positive working environment to do their best. eg even a well-trained baker may underperform if they feel unappreciated or overworked. working alongside experienced staff and learning by doing can improve skills more effectively than structured training.

def] training and development mean making your employ learn the new activity or work to be well fit their in working there
kn] yes t&d is the best way to improve employ effectiveness in the company
ap] for e.g if a firm of medicine change its strategy from prescription to marketing so they have to first train the employ for the effectiveness in marketing of the product
an] this will make him strong enough to deal in the marketing sales and have the ability to choose right strategy in right way and place for higher sales of the product

kn] on the other side training and development is not the best way to increase employ effectiveness as people habits or skills dont change in short time period as it takes a long period for it sbo other ideas for high effectiveness can be more bonus rewards on the specific task which is the firm objective to achieve this will make the employ more motivated and new energy will be seen from him at that task as money is mostly the main goal for the people who work
ap] for e.g a firm wear hand made shoes are made they choose to give extra money on making extra shoes which will make the employ more motivated to work than training and development
an]

AN] considering both points in line training and devleopment could be seen as a time pass or fun activity by the employ but if extra money is paid he will be tooking it more serious and will show more effectiveness in working

(K)its important for employees quality of service or output as their skills improved.(app)Like a public owned armed forces firm trains soldiers in assaults and etc before an upcoming offensive: for greater assaults.(An)means higher quality of service or higher output per worker-for higher customers or more attracted seeing the service-means revenues. Or less mistakes in producing-less complaints-less customers leaving-revenues.
(K) But motivation also important, overwoked depressed-wants rid of work-afffects his work performance. (App)same armed forces firm delays its employees leave and holidays, on duty for whole month-angry depressed doesnt want to perform good just get the work done- compared to those returning from 1 month leave to the frontline who probably energetic or happy.(Ann) leads bad quality of service-even if high quality skills-making mistakes in product/service etc- leads higher complaints- leads lost customer revenues. Or less output per worker which means less efficiency in operations-more time reaching objective.
(Eval)(1)other factors also valuable-investment should be in training and others together.(2)e.g motivation not present-more chance of mistakes and lower quality service or lower output per worker as explained above.

DEF: Training and Development means teaching employees the skills for their current job/task or to learn a new skill to expand their tasks.

Yes, it is important to train and develop the staff
KN: This is because this motivates and inspires them
APP: Example, the hotel chefs could be trained by world-class chefs who are famous and successful at their job which is very inspiring for them.
AN: Hence, when best training programmes with significant investments are spent on employees they feel more valued therefore increasing their loyalty towards the business. Further it improves their skill therefore their performance and efficiency increases hence leading to more promotion chances and better living standards of employees.
AN+: Therefore this creates a good media image of the business therefore leading to an increase in people who would want to visit the hotel, therefore making the business more competitive.

However, there are also other ways that are important to improve employees effectiveness
KN: This could be by appreciating them and acknowledging their achievements
APP: Example by giving employees awards like 'Employee of the Month' or 'Best Chef', or by generally managers giving praise for making a well-liked dish.
AN: Therefore this will boost morale of the employees hence giving them a sense of responsibility which will hence improve communication in the workplace. Therefore leading to employees being confident in being innovative and hence increasing intrapeneurship.
AN+: Therefore this will make the employees more efficient as they will work to find better methods to do things therefore leading to less wastages or reducing costs of the business.

EVAL:
Hence training and development is very important especially for a larger hotel which means a larger staff hence more chances of employees being less skilled than others therefore require training, however it is also costly esp for a larger workforce and may not give enough returns which may end up becoming a negative investment for the business.
This is why other techniques are important too like appreciating employees, giving them proper workplace hygiene, ensuring breaks and social needs are met, etc. are all very important alongside in order to maximise efficiency in the business.
