0450 IGCSE Business Studies Paper 1 Structure is made of 4 questions. Each question have 5 parts. Each part with Mark Scheme is defined below. 0450 Business Studies Syllabus 2020 can be of help before reading this article.
Part a) 2 Marks Question
Normally a Definition, Basic Calculation or Identification style question. For detailed explanation of 2 marks question, refer paragraph given above.
Part b) 2 Marks Question
Normally a definition, calculation, Identify advantages / disadvantages, features, reasons or types of a term given. For detailed explanation of 2 marks question, click here.
Part c) 4 Marks Question
This part normally starts by Identify & Explain two Advantages / Disadvantages / Features of a particular business term. The question is similar to 2 marks question in part b, but need an explanation to each advantage / disadvantage / feature is required. This part carries 2 marks for identifying the advantage / disadvantage / feature and 2 marks for explanation of that advantage / disadvantage / feature.

Part d) 6 Marks Question
This 6 Marks Part of IGCSE Business Studies consists of two/three parts in 0450 IGCSE Business Studies Paper 1 Structure
If there are 2 sub-parts of this section then each part has 3 marks allocated. Alternatively, if there are 3 sub-parts then 2 marks are allocated for each sub-part. Each part needs an identification as well as explanation. 1 Mark is allocated to Identification 1 for Analysis and 1 mark for each evaluation.
- Knowledge [2 × 1] Award 1 mark for each relevant factor
- Application [2 × 1] Award 1 mark for each relevant reference to this business
- Analysis [2 × 1] Award 1 mark for each relevant explanation
Part e) 6 Marks Question
As per the 0450 Business Studies New 2020 Syllabus, the 6 marks are distributed as per the following criteria;
- Knowledge [1] Award 1 mark for identification of relevant ways(s)
- Application [1] Award 1 mark for a relevant reference to this business
- Analysis [2]: Award up to 2 marks for relevant development of point(s)
- Evaluation [2] Award up to 2 marks for a justified decision on which of the two options DPC should choose.

Part e) 6 Marks Sample Answer – Business Studies Paper 1 Structure
Do you think Lance is right to be concerned about Leroy s plan for growth? Justify your answer.
[Point in Favour of Argument 1] They will be learning about changes in demand patterns.
[AN] Consumers demands will be met, no consumer will leave without buying developing sense of loyalty.
[Point in Favour of Argument 2] For milk & vegetables, delivering fresh & in right quantities is more important.
[AN] going for forward integration would help lance in lowering wastages.
[Point against the Argument] However, lance is moving towards the tertiary sector (selling the products), which requires skillset related to selling the produce.
[AN] Additional trainings might be required along with the time to get experienced in selling the vegetables, milk & eggs to consumers.
[EVALUATION]
[STS /LTS] Rather than getting the training, we can hire an experienced seller who can give training to unskilled employees and can be used later on. (succession planning)
[External Factors] It depends on level of competition in area where we are opening an outlet of vegetables.
